Adventure Awaits with Abstract Trees

Hi. Design team member Koren Wiskman here. I hope that I can inspire you to create something fun with all of these awesome T4T supplies. Today I am using the Adventure Awaits Stamp Set and Coordinating Dies to create this project. Plus, interesting story, I can't find my trees! Seriously, All of my collection of tree like dies are gone... I can't find any of my tree dies. So, I used something else.

The card size is A2 (4.25in x5.5in.) The front panel is cut to 3.25in x 4.75in. This is my favorite size card to create. I have tried so many others but this size is the one that keeps my heart happy. My card bases are typically made using a neutral gray cardstock. These two details about my cards rarely change.

Background

I have the cutest collection of 6x6 paper. The problem is, I never freaking use it. I did however find a way to use it here. The road lines you see and asphalt are actually an old 6x6 piece of patterned paper from my stash. I do think you can easily recreate this with dark grey cardstock and one or two thin line stamps. I have a great yellow embossing powder that I can use to recreate this background. I'm sure some of you do as well.

The trees! I don't know what happened to my tree dies. I may have given them all away. I could have lost them in our move to this house. I'm not sure what happened to them, but I keep looking for them like they will somehow appear. To create the tree like parts of this card I used a set of nesting abstract oval dies. I also considered using cloud dies. They are popped up using various heights of foam squares. Three abstract tree top like shapes cut from a dark and medium green cardstock.

Sentiment

The sentiment is from the Time for Tea Designs Adventure Awaits Stamp Set. I stamped it on yet another green cardstock. This time I was trying to go for the Exit signs you see traveling on Interstate 95 up and down the east coast of the US. On this road, it often feels like a tunnel of trees. For miles and miles just green trees. I think this card screams ROAD TRIP! and I love it. I cut it out using the T4TD Rounded Corner Stitched Rectangle Dies. In this set it has a non-stitched, lol... that sounds funny. The non-stitched oval die in this set is what I used to cut out the ends of the sentiment panel. I did cut it twice moving the die down the second time to cut the end closer to the stamped sentiment.

Focal Image

I stamped the images from the T4TD Adventure Awaits Stamp Set onto heavyweight White cardstock. I originally thought I was going to color the large image using colored pencils and then I changed my mind. I used waterproof black ink to stamp it and then colored it using my Inktense pencils and a blender pen. I really enjoyed coloring this image. I was trying to do a dark gray color like my Jeep but unfortunately I may have missed the mark. It's ok, I'm still satisfied with how it turned out. I used the Coordinating Dies from the Adventure Awaits Set to cut out this large car image. It is also popped up using foam squares just like the background and sentiment. In hindsight, I like using watercolor paper when using a blender pen. The cardstock pills when heavily saturated.

My daughter describes my style as monochromatic. I'm ok with this statement.

I hope that I've inspired you to create something today. Check out the Adventure Awaits Stamp Set and Coordinating Dies in the T4TD shop.
