Happy Friday! DT Annalisa here and I'm excited to share a light-up card featuring the EZ Light from Pear Blossom Press and the Boat Buddies stamp set from Time For Tea Designs. As soon as I saw the lighthouse in this set, I knew I had to make it light up!
To create the background, I used the Peacock Feathers Distress Watercolour Pencil. I began by forming an outer organic shape and made it pale by using mostly water. After heat setting this layer, I created another layer, slightly smaller than the first, progressively darkening the colour. I learned this layering technique from a fantastic class by Jenn Shurkus titled "Distress Techniques: Watercolor Pencils Part 2." I gained so much insight from this class and highly recommend it.
I adhered the watercolour background to a card base with liquid glue. I used two of the dies from the Rounded Corner Stitched Rectangle Dies to create a frame from white cardstock. I used liquid glue to adhere this to the card base.
Next, I stamped the images from the Boat Buddies set, coloured them with Copics, and cut them out using the coordinating dies. I added accents with a white gel pen for extra detail. To guide the recipient on where to press to make the lighthouse glow, I used the 'push' stamp from the Pear Blossom Press Stamp and Die Set 19151 on the red and white life-saver tube.
I drew the rocks in pencil, outlined them with a Copic multiliner, and then colored them in with Copics.
For the light-up element, I utilized the EZ-Light, which comes with three lights in one unit, and followed a tutorial by Justine Dvorak. She provided a clear explanation of the process and even demonstrated how to create a pop-out area to replace the battery if it runs out!
I adhered the stamped elements using liquid glue and added three Designer Enamel Dots from the Sweet Summer collection for a finishing touch.
