Valentine's Watercolour Plaid

Happy Friday, DT Annalisa here! Since tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, I’m sharing a love-themed card featuring stamps and dies from Time For Tea Designs shop to get 10% off your order. I love how the watercolour plaid background turned out!

For the background, I began with a soft red watercolor wash (I used Gansai Tambi No. 32) as the base. Once it was dry, I painted evenly spaced horizontal and vertical black stripes (No. 20) to form a plaid pattern. At each intersection where the black lines crossed, I filled in the overlapping squares with a darker, more concentrated black to create bold, solid blocks.

After the watercolour panel was completely dry, I used a white Posca pen to draw additional vertical and horizontal lines to complete the plaid pattern. I then trimmed the panel and adhered it to an A2 card base using liquid glue.

Next, I stamped images from You Got Mail and Seasons Tweetings, colored them with Copic markers, and added white gel pen accents. I used the coordinating You Got Mail dies to cut out the images and sentiment, and my Brother ScanNCut SDX125e to cut out the bird image.

The “love” sentiment is from an older die in my stash, which I die-cut from navy blue shimmer cardstock. I also die-cut the word three times from white cardstock and layered them together to create dimension.

To assemble the card, I adhered the images with double-sided foam tape. To finish it off, I added sparkly accents to the edges of some images using a Quickie Glue Pen and Lawn Fawn Prisma Glitter.
