Big Birthday Wishes Video Tutorial

 Hello Vic here today and I have a fun video tutorial for you today. I wanted to make a bright birthday card with lots of ink blending on my background. 

Here are the products you need for the card:

Birthday Bear Stamp and Die Collection 

Bokeh Bubbles 6x6 Stencil

Big Birthday Wishes Sentiment Die

Beautiful Blending Brushes

Distress Inks

 

My card size is an A6 top folding card. I trimmed down another piece of white card to A6 for my card front. This is the piece that I will be ink blending onto.

I added some distress ink colours to my card front. Using the  Bokeh Bubbles 6x6 Stencil I then applied a red ink over the stencil. I added some splatters of black ink to my card front once the background was dry.

I then stamped my images using the Birthday Bear Stamp and Die Collection  . I coloured in my images with copic markers then using the coordinating dies I run the images through my die cutting machine. Here is a list of the copic markers I used to colour in my images. 

I then used a piece of black foam and using the Big Birthday Wishes Sentiment Die I run this through my die cutting machine. I used foam instead of card to give the sentiment a bit more bulk but if you don’t want to add more bulk to your card just use a piece of black card. 

I then stamped some balloons to add to my card but I die cut the balloon first as I found this easier to stamp the balloons and string. I used the same red copic markers to colour the balloons in and I added these to my card once all my images were adhered down. 

Once your images are adhered into the card your card is now complete. I had so much fun making this card and using bright colours on my background I hope you will give this a go. Don’t forget to tag us in your creations so we can see your cards and crafty projects.

How to Create a Galaxy Background & Pull Tab Slider Card

Hi everyone! 

Jayne from the DT here with this month's blog tutorial! 

I am absolutely loving this month's release and can't stop making things with it! What's been your favourite product? During the live release on Facebook, Jo showed you my card featuring a bunny zooming through the galaxy in his paper plane, and you guys loved it (thank you!). So, this month, I'm going to recreate that card for you and teach you how to make your own.

Supplies

 

You will need:

- Pull tab dies

- Die cutting machine

- Smooth cardstock for ink blending

- Blender brushes or foams

- Inks to blend

- White paint & paintbrush

- Paper Plane Pals stamps and dies

 

Instructions

So, please be kind with me guys - I made a video (my first ever). I thought it might help for you to see the pull tab dies in action. I've also included step-by-step instructions, below, if you prefer!

 

 

1. Cut a panel of smooth cardstock to 3.75" x 5". 

2. Pick some bright colours to be the colourful spots in your galaxy - I used picked raspberry, wilted violet and mermaid lagoon distress oxides. Squeezed lemonade also works well. Apply two or three patches of colour to the card panel (you can use blender brushes or foams, you just want a bold pop of colour, no blending skills needed here!). Take a dark blue ink (I used chipped sapphire) and blend over the rest of the card, all the way up to your bright spots. Finally, darken the edges of the card by blending on some black ink (mine was black soot).

3. Once your inks have dried, add your stars by flicking some white paint across the panel - I add mine to an acrylic block, then use a medium size paintbrush to flick it off the edge and onto the page.

4. Stamp your bunny and paper plane onto some white card stock (I used Neenah, as it copes well with Copic colouring) and colour with whatever medium you prefer. I used Copics, so I stamped it in Gina K amalgam ink, which is alcohol marker friendly.

5.  Time to make the slider element! Grab your pull tab dies and die cut the following:

1.     A long rectangle in a similar colour to your background, and another in any scrap card;
2. The pull tab die (the one with the little arrow in the middle) in a similar colour to your background, and another in a contrasting colour (I did white);
3. A small white rectangle, from any scrap card;
4. The plaster/band-aid shape, from any scrap card.

6. Choose the length of track you want your bunny to travel along (there’s three in the pack, I chose the smallest for the A2 card). Line it up where you want it to go on your card. Then place the little semi-circle die that cuts out a notch on the edge of your card, level with your track. Die cut both.

7. Glue together your two long rectangles, to make the slider nice and sturdy. Fold the band-aid shape along the score lines – fold up towards yourself for the two middle lines, then away from yourself for the two outer ones. Fold this shape around your long rectangle, with the little flaps on the top. Poke the little flaps through your track from the reverse side of your card, and flatten them down on the front side. Position the slider so that the flaps are at the furthest point away from the notch, and make sure that your slider isn’t poking out the end of the card panel. Glue your plaster shape in place from underneath, then glue your bunny in his plane to the little flaps.

8. Turn your card over again and line up the slider so it is in the centre of the notch. Pop a dot of liquid glue in the centre of the small rectangle die cut and adhere to the reverse of the card panel, near to the notch. Wrap the small rectangle loosely around the slider, to stop it wiggling up and down. Secure in place with dot of liquid glue.

9. Turn your card back over so it is right side up, trim any excess length off the slider (you want it to be flush to the edge of the card where the notch is), and glue the pull tab in place so it sits snugly in the middle of the notch. Glue the little arrow in your contrasting colour into the centre of the pull tab.

10. You should now be able to slide your pull tab so your bunny travels along the track!

11. Cut a card base to US A2 size (4.25 x 5.5") and adhere the card panel – you’ll need to do this with foam tape as this has a bit of height to it, which will allow the slider element to move freely.

12. Last of all, choose your sentiment – I used “the sky’s the limit” and heat embossed it on to some black card. I popped it in place with some more foam tape (yes, I’m a foam tape addict), to complete my card.

 

Easier than it looks, right? I love with this set that you could use the greeting “flying by to say…” and then use any other sentiment on the inside of the card to make it suitable for any occasion you like!

Pop Up Ducks

Good afternoon everyone and happy Sunday.

Lyndsey here and I'm so excited to be on the blog sharing this card with you today. You may remember quite a while ago on one of the lives Jo had asked what us Teatimers would like to see in upcoming releases, one of my answers back then was ducks. So I can't tell you how happy I was when I actually saw them feature in this months release.

For my card today I decided to make a box card, which I have seen all over social media lately and just love the design, and obviously I used the adorable Lucky Ducks stamp and die set .

I don't have the die sets to create this with so I came up with my own measurements and have created a little photo tutorial for you.

1. I took a simple arch die nesting set and used it to cut 2 arches from white card.

2. I trimed each arch down to size as I didn't want them to be too tall.

3. I cut 3 pieces of white card to 12cm wide x (different heights as shown in the pic) and scored at 1cm & 11cm. I used the Landscape Border Dies to cut the grass shape from the top of the 2 larger pieces. I then cut 2 pieces of card to 7cm wide x 6cm tall and trimmed in a diagonal to 3.5xm at the RH side,  scoring in at 1cm from the LH edge.

4. I Attached both the side pieces to the back of the largest arch panel ( you will need a good strong tape or adhesive).

5. I used the Scene it 6x6 Stencil to add clouds to the smaller arch panel using salty ocean distress ink, and coloured the grass using twisted citron distress ink.

 6. The cloud panel is stuck to the back of the card (covering the joins from the side pieces) and the front piece and the 2 grass pieces are stuck to the LH side of the box, spacing out the grass pieces to suit your design.

7. An easy way to get everything lined up when on the final assembly is to lay the card flat (with the tabs up as shown) remove the tape and then fold the RH side piece over to stick the card together.

8. And wholia you have your finished box card.

To create my little scene I stamped and cut out the cute Lucky Ducks and then added more details using the the tree, clouds and fence from the Windmill add on die set.  I coloured the tree in with my SN markers and finally added one of the bees from the Buzzing for you  stamp set.

The colours for the images are listed below in order of lightest to darkest.

Ducks & Bee - CT1, CT2, CT4, GB5 

Beaks - OR1, OR2, OR3 

Grass - CG3, CG2, DG4

Flowers- HB2, LV2, LV3 & PP2, PP5

Bullrushes - TN5, TN7,  TN9 

Butterflies - PP4 & LV1 

I finally finished off by adding patterned paper from the Rainbow Brights 6x6 pad to the outside of the box and stamping the sentiment onto a scalloped rectangle which was then added to the front of the box.

Shaker Card Video Tutorial

 Hi crafty friends! I hope you're all having a good week. 

I am sharing a fun video tutorial today where I show you how I make my shaker cards.

I love to make shaker cards and fill them up with sequins they are really fun to receive too. For my card today I used the Baked With Love Stamp Set for my critters. I seriously love these stamps and the pieces of cheese are really cute! In my video I will also show you how I copic coloured the stamps. 

For my card panel I die cut one of my favourite cover plate dies using the Stripes Cover Plate Die. I ink blended this using a Beautiful Blending Brush along with some Speckled Egg Distress Ink. I then ink blended the back panel using Kitsch Flamingo Distress Ink. I then adhered a piece of acetate to the back of the stripes die. I applied some foam tape and filled this up with sequins before adhering the panels together. 

The shaker part of your card is now complete. I then stamped my images and coloured them in, using the Baked With Love Coordinating Dies I ran them through my die cutting machine. 

For my sentiment I stamped the Hugs Enclosed from the Be Kind Be You. I used a copic marker to colour the hugs stamp. I then used the Be Kind Be You Coordinating Dies to die cut my sentiment out. Once everything was ready I adhered the images to my card using foam tape.

Your shaker card is now complete. I loved how this turned out and it's sure to put a smile on someones face.

Cosy Winter Vellum Card Video

 Hi Vic here today. I have a fun video for you using the brand new Cosy Winter A5 Stamp Set. Have you seen the cute images yet they are just adorable, I used the two bunnies and the bear for my video today.

In my video I take you through step by step how I made my card and how I used vellum as my card base. I had to bulk this out so that the card stands up perfectly. I started by trimming and scoring the vellum then I heat embossed some snowflakes onto the vellum using WOW White Embossing Powder. I used the Landscape Edge Die for my hills at the bottom of the card. This will help the front card stand up along with the images as it will add some weight to the card. For the inside of my card I trimmed down a piece of card and added some of the trees along the bottom using Bundled Sage Distress Ink and then I added some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink using my Beautiful Blender Brush. I adhered this in my card so that you can write your sentiment here.  

I then stamped my images onto some copic friendly paper and coloured the images using my copic markers. I used the following markers for my images:

Bunnies: W0, W2, W5, YR000, R20, E50, BV000, BV31, RV00, RV23

Bear: E43, E41, E40, YR000, R20, BG11. BG23, E31, E57, B00

I then cut the images out and adhered them onto my card using foam pads.

I then used the Falalala Scalloped Slimline Die and I used the snowflakes and die cut them out using some white card. I then adhered them onto my card using PVA glue.

To finish the card off I added a few sequins and adhered these down with PVA glue. Your card is now complete.

Mixing Ink Blended Backgrounds with Patterned Papers

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope you are all safe and well!

I am super excited to share this new card with you that I made during our last FB Live.

This card mixes an ink blended and stamped pattern with patterned papers. 

In the video I am attempting to match my ink blending to the patterned papers. Some bits were successful like my flooring which was ink blended and then stamped with the awesome A5 Woodgrain stamp.

You will see in the video that I attempted to match the frame with the blue in my patterned paper using Distress Oxides but in the end we decided not to use that element. Instead we cut the frame from Red cardstock and that really brought the scene together.

In the Live you would've seen just how I deliberated over each colour and combination of papers before settling on this. I cut this down for the YouTube video in the interests of time, however, I thought it was great to show how our crafting thought process works in real time and when you don't really have a plan, which I didn't. :)

The super cute cats were already coloured with my Copic Markers. This also added a further challenge as I wanted to make sure my whole project looked coordinated and like it had been planned this way.

I love this little mouse popping out of the cracker. I added some Glossy Accents and Stickles to the final images to add that special finishing touch.

On the inside of our card, which incidentally, is one our new A2 card bases, I added the joke sentiment strip and stamped our little mouse again using Distress Oxide Ink in Candied Apple.

To A Sweet Friend Bee Card Video Tutorial

 Hello Vic here today! I’m so excited to be sharing a video tutorial today. 

I wanted to make a shaped card and I used the Circle Of Love Nesting Die to make my card base.

I die cut 2 larger circles and a smaller circle using the next size down. 

The two larger circles will be your card base and the smaller circle is what we will be working on.

On the piece that will be the back of your card score a line at the top about half an inch from the top, this will then be adhered onto the front circle. Making a circle shaped card. 

Using theBuzzing For You Stamp Set I took both clouds from the stamp and stamped the clouds onto my circle panel using versamark ink. This will act as a glue for your embossing powder. 

I then added white embossing powder over the clouds and heat set this with my heat gun. 

Using some distress ink and a Beautiful blending brush I ink blended over the heat embossing. I then die cut some grass using the Landscape edge die. 

I adhered the grass pieces to my card.

I then stamped my images using the Bee Happy Stamp Set and coloured the images in with my copic markers. I then added a sentiment To A Special Friend and heat embossed the greeting.

I adhered all my images down and added some sequins.

The bee card is now complete. I loved making this card and I hope you have fun creating your cards. If you use this technique don’t forget to tag is on social media we love looking at your creations.
